The Village Defense

Following your harrowing escape from Castle Dimitrescu and subsequent return to the Village, you'll find yourself thrust into a desperate defense. The Lycans, emboldened by your presence and the chaos, will launch a full-scale assault on the remaining villagers and your position. This section will guide you through the intense combat sequence, helping you survive the onslaught and protect the few remaining survivors.

Your primary objective during this segment is to hold out against waves of Lycans until a specific event triggers. Resource management and strategic positioning are key to success. Don't be afraid to use all the tools at your disposal, including environmental hazards and crafted items.

Here's how to best prepare and survive the Village Defense:

Barricade the Gates: Before the main assault begins, you'll have a brief window to reinforce the main gate leading into the central village area. Interact with the wooden planks to board them up. This will slow down the initial wave of Lycans.
Utilize the Shotgun: The Shotgun is incredibly effective against the Lycans, especially when they group together. Aim for headshots to maximize damage and conserve ammunition.
Craft Explosive Rounds: If you have Gunpowder and Rusted Scrap, craft Explosive Rounds for your Grenade Launcher. These are invaluable for clearing out large groups of Lycans quickly.
Positioning is Key: The small shack near the main gate offers some cover and a good vantage point. However, Lycans will eventually breach it. Be prepared to move and kite enemies around the central area.
Look for Red Barrels: Several explosive red barrels are scattered around the defense area. Shoot them when Lycans are nearby to create devastating explosions.
Conserve First Aid Meds: While the combat is intense, try to conserve your First Aid Meds for critical moments. Use them only when your health is dangerously low.
Listen for Cues: Pay attention to Ethan's dialogue and environmental cues. These will often indicate when a new wave is coming or when the defense is nearing its end.
