Let's begin our journey through the cursed lands of Resident Evil Village!
The Stronghold
The Stronghold is a pivotal area in your journey through Resident Evil Village, serving as a bottleneck before you can access the final lord. This region is heavily fortified and swarming with Lycans, including armored variants and the more dangerous Vârcolac. Your primary objective here is to clear the path forward and retrieve the Flask containing the final lord's remains. Be prepared for sustained combat and resource management.
Upon entering the Stronghold, you'll immediately be thrust into a large-scale engagement. Prioritize taking out the archer Lycans on elevated positions first, as their ranged attacks can quickly whittle down your health. Use environmental hazards like explosive barrels to your advantage, especially when groups of Lycans are clustered together. The M1897 Shotgun is highly effective against the standard Lycans, while the M1911 Pistol can be used for headshots on unarmored targets to conserve shotgun ammo.
As you progress deeper, you'll encounter armored Lycans. These enemies require more sustained fire or precise shots to their unarmored areas (often the head or exposed limbs). The Grenade Launcher with Pipe Bombs or the Magnum can quickly dispatch them, but conserve these for the more challenging encounters. There's a small shack to your left shortly after the initial engagement that contains some Handgun Ammo and a First Aid Med. Always check these smaller structures for supplies.
The path will lead you through a series of ruined buildings and open courtyards. Keep an eye out for the Vârcolac, a larger, more aggressive Lycan that can charge and deal sificant damage. When facing a Vârcolac, create distance and aim for its head. Explosives are particularly effective here. There's a hidden path to the right of a collapsed archway that leads to a small cache with Shotgun Ammo and a Magnum Ammo pickup. Don't miss it!
The final push through the Stronghold involves a gauntlet of Lycans before you reach the Flask. Utilize your remaining explosives and powerful weapons. After securing the Flask, the path back will be relatively clear, but always be vigilant for any stragglers. Ensure you have crafted enough healing items before entering this area, as it's a true test of your combat skills.
