Saving your progress in Resident Evil is not automatic and requires a specific item: the Ink Ribbon. These are finite resources, adding another layer of survival horror tension.

  • Typewriters: These are your save points. You'll find them scattered throughout the mansion and other locations.
  • Ink Ribbons: To save, you must have at least one Ink Ribbon in your inventory. Interact with a typewriter, and if you have an Ink Ribbon, you'll be prompted to save.
  • Resource Management: Be mindful of your Ink Ribbons. Don't save excessively, especially early on, as you might run out in critical areas. However, don't be afraid to save before a difficult boss fight or a complex puzzle. Finding a good balance is key.

Always save when you've made significant progress, solved a major puzzle, or are about to enter a new, potentially dangerous area. There's nothing worse than losing an hour of progress to an unexpected zombie ambush!
