Rez Infinite offers a wealth of post-game content designed to challenge your skills, deepen your understanding of the game's mechanics, and unlock even more mesmerizing experiences. Prepare to dive back into the network!

Unlocking Beyond Mode

Your first major objective after completing the main game is to unlock Beyond Mode. This isn't just a difficulty bump; it's a complete reimagining of the core experience with new enemy patterns, faster tempos, and altered visual effects. To unlock Beyond Mode, you must achieve a 100% completion rate on all five main Areas (Area 1 through Area 5) in the standard game mode. This means:

  • Achieving a 100% Trace Ratio: Destroy every single enemy and projectile in each Area. This often requires multiple playthroughs to memorize enemy spawns and optimize your lock-on strategies.
  • Collecting all Data Layers: Each Area contains hidden Data Layers, represented by glowing orbs. While many are on the main path, some are tucked away in corners or require specific enemy eliminations to reveal.
  • Defeating all Bosses: Naturally, you must successfully defeat the boss at the end of each Area.

Once you've met these criteria for all five Areas, a notification will appear, and Beyond Mode will be accessible from the main menu.

Exploring the Lost Areas

Beyond the main campaign, Rez Infinite introduces several "Lost Areas" that offer unique challenges and visual spectacles. These are typically unlocked by achieving certain milestones or completing specific tasks:

Area X

Area X is a truly unique experience, designed specifically for VR but fully playable in standard mode. It's a free-roaming, abstract environment where your movement and actions directly influence the evolving soundscape and visuals. To unlock Area X:

  • Complete all five main Areas in standard mode.
  • Achieve a minimum of 80% Trace Ratio across all five main Areas.

Once unlocked, Area X provides a meditative, almost artistic gameplay loop. There are no traditional enemies or bosses, but rather interactive elements that respond to your presence. Experiment with different movement patterns and lock-on sequences to discover new musical phrases and visual transformations. There are no "items" to collect in Area X, but rather experiences to uncover.

Direct Assault Mode

For those seeking pure, unadulterated combat, Direct Assault Mode is your destination. This mode strips away the narrative and focuses solely on intense, continuous enemy waves. To unlock Direct Assault Mode:

  • Complete Beyond Mode for at least one Area. While not all Areas need to be cleared in Beyond Mode, completing just one will grant access.

In Direct Assault, you'll face an endless onslaught of enemies, with your goal being to survive as long as possible and achieve the highest score. Power-ups (such as the Overdrive and Shield) are still present, but their appearance might be less frequent, forcing you to rely more on precise lock-ons and quick reflexes. Focus on maintaining your Evolution Level to maximize your firepower.

Mastering Score Attack

Once you've unlocked Beyond Mode and explored the Lost Areas, the ultimate challenge lies in Score Attack. This mode allows you to replay any unlocked Area (including Beyond Mode versions) with the sole objective of achieving the highest possible score. Your score is determined by:

  • Trace Ratio: The percentage of enemies and projectiles destroyed. Aim for 100% every time.
  • Evolution Level: Maintaining a high Evolution Level (up to Level 8) throughout the Area. Avoid taking damage to prevent your level from dropping.
  • Chain Bonuses: Successfully locking onto and destroying multiple enemies in a single burst. The longer the chain, the higher the bonus.
  • Time Bonus: Completing the Area quickly.

To truly master Score Attack, consider these strategies:

  • Memorize Enemy Patterns: Knowing where and when enemies will appear allows you to pre-emptively lock on and maximize chain bonuses.
  • Prioritize Threatening Enemies: Focus on enemies that fire projectiles or are about to attack to minimize damage and maintain your Evolution Level.
  • Utilize Overdrive Strategically: Save your Overdrive for dense enemy clusters or challenging boss phases to clear the screen and maintain your Trace Ratio.
  • Practice Specific Sections: If you're struggling with a particular part of an Area, replay that section repeatedly until you can clear it flawlessly.

Achieving top scores in each Area will unlock further cosmetic options and potentially even hidden sound effects or visual filters, adding another layer of replayability to Rez Infinite.
