Understanding Hitboxes
In Rocket League, understanding hitboxes is crucial for competitive play, as they dictate how your vehicle interacts with the ball and other cars. While vehicles may appear different, some share identical hitboxes, physics, and turning radii. This section explains how these similarities affect gameplay.
Some import bodies are special variants of other Battle-Cars and share the same hitboxes, physics, and turning radii as their original counterparts. This means that despite visual differences, these vehicles will perform identically in terms of how they interact with the game's physics. Examples of such vehicles include:
- Octane ZSR: Shares characteristics with the original Octane.
- Breakout Type-S: Shares characteristics with the original Breakout.
- Road Hog XL: Shares characteristics with the original Road Hog.
On October 19, 2020, Psyonix announced the return of the Ecto-1 licensed car to the Item Shop and mentioned plans to bring back previous licensed cars. These licensed cars are untradeable but can be used across platforms.
