Understand Rocket League's game modes, from Casual play and its various team sizes to the ranked challenges of Competitive matches and unique Extra Modes.

Rocket League offers a variety of game modes to keep things fresh:

  • Casual: Unranked matches where you can leave without penalty. Great for practice or playing without pressure. Available in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 (Chaos).
  • Competitive: Ranked matches where your performance affects your Skill Rating (MMR) and rank. Available in 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3. This is where most players strive to improve.
  • Extra Modes: Unique variations of Rocket League:
    • Rumble: Power-ups appear randomly, adding chaotic fun.
    • Dropshot: Score by breaking panels on the opponent's floor.
    • Hoops: Basketball-style gameplay with a raised net.
    • Snow Day: Hockey-style gameplay with a puck instead of a ball.
  • Tournaments: In-game tournaments where you compete against other teams in a bracket format for rewards.
  • Private Match: Create custom matches with friends or specific settings.
  • Training: Free Play, Striker, Goalie, Aerial, and Custom Training packs to hone specific skills.
