Windward Map Guide

Windward presents a unique challenge in Rogue Company with its open sightlines and distinct objective areas. This map often favors Rogues with long-range capabilities and strong area denial abilities. The central "Bridge" is a critical chokepoint that frequently becomes the focal point of early-game skirmishes. Controlling the Bridge allows for significant map traversal and pressure on both bomb sites.

When approaching the A site, teams often utilize the "Dock" area for cover and to set up crossfires. Defenders on A will typically establish positions within the "Warehouse" or along the "Waterfront." The Warehouse offers multiple entry points, making it essential for defenders to communicate enemy positions effectively. For B site, the "Market" area is a key engagement zone. Attackers might push through the "Alley" or attempt a more direct assault from the "Central Plaza." The open nature of the Market means that players caught in the open are highly vulnerable to enemy fire, especially from Rogues like Juke with her sonic grenades that can disrupt enemy vision and aim.

A common strategy for attacking B involves using the "Cargo Containers" for cover while advancing. Defenders can counter this by deploying utility like Scorch's fire wall to block entry or using abilities like Vy's poison gas to zone out attackers. The verticality on Windward, particularly around the "Crane" overlooking the B site, can be exploited by skilled players. However, this position is also highly exposed. be aware of the weapon spawns, as securing the Mythic Shotgun early can provide a significant advantage in close-quarters engagements within the tighter areas of the map.

Flanking on Windward can be achieved through the "Underground Tunnels" that connect different parts of the map, but these are often heavily patrolled. Another option is to use the "Waterways" to move around the map, though this route is exposed and can be easily countered by players holding angles from higher ground. Understanding the sightlines from various elevated positions, such as the "Observation Deck" near the Bridge, is crucial for both offensive and defensive play. Effective use of gadgets like the Trip Mine can alert defenders to flanking attempts, while offensive players might use a Flashbang to disorient defenders before pushing into a contested area.
