While not a single 'boss,' the waves of scientists that spawn during the Oil Rig Locked Crate event act as a significant challenge, requiring sustained combat and tactical play.

Appearance & Behavior:

  • Scientists patrol the Oil Rigs. They are armed with various firearms (MP5s, AKs, Shotguns).
  • Activating the Locked Crate triggers multiple waves of scientists to spawn and converge on the crate's location.
  • The crate takes 15 minutes to unlock, during which you must defend it from scientists and other players.

Loot:

  • Scientists drop their weapons, ammunition, and sometimes Hazmat Suits.
  • The Locked Crate contains high-tier weapons (M249, LR-300), C4, Rockets, HQM, and other valuable components.

Strategy:

  1. Preparation: Requires at least 2-3 players, full Metal Armor, and high-tier weapons. Bring plenty of ammunition and medical supplies.
  2. Clear Initial Scientists: Before activating the crate, clear all existing scientists on the rig.
  3. Secure a Position: Find a defensible position near the locked crate with good sightlines and cover.
  4. Wave Management: Scientists will come in waves. Focus fire, prioritize dangerous targets (e.g., those with AKs).
  5. PvP Awareness: The 15-minute timer is a beacon for other players. Be prepared for PvP at any moment. Set up traps or lookouts if possible.
  6. Looting: Once the crate unlocks, quickly grab the loot. The rig will remain a PvP hotspot for a while.

The Oil Rig Locked Crate event is a dynamic and intense encounter that combines PvE and PvP challenges. It's a prime source of the best gear in the game.
