8.17. Looting & Securing the Raid

Successfully raiding an enemy base is only half the battle; the real challenge often lies in efficiently looting the spoils and securing your gains before other players or the base owners return. Proper looting and securing techniques are crucial to maximizing your profit and minimizing your risk after a successful raid.

Once you've breached an enemy base, the first priority is to identify and access their loot rooms. This usually involves breaking through reinforced doors, honeycomb structures, and potentially dealing with remaining traps or automated defenses. Speed and efficiency are key, as the longer you spend inside, the higher the chance of being counter-raided.

Efficient Looting Strategies:

  • Prioritize Loot Rooms: Identify the main loot rooms, often indicated by the presence of multiple Tool Cupboards, Furnaces, or large storage containers.
  • Target High-Value Items First: Focus on items that are most valuable or essential for your group: Scrap, High Quality Metal, Components (like Gears, Springs, Rope), Ammunition, and Medical Supplies.
  • Use Storage Boxes Wisely: Distribute looted items among your team members' inventories and any Storage Boxes you find within the raided base. If you bring your own boxes, place them strategically for quick transfer.
  • Dismantle for Resources: If time is short or you can't carry everything, consider dismantling unwanted items or structures for their base resources (e.g., dismantling a furnace for Metal Fragments).
  • Quickly Identify Key Items: Learn to quickly scan through inventories and containers. Items like C4, Rocket Launchers, and High Grade Ore are top priorities.

Securing the Raid:

Securing your raid is as important as the looting itself. This involves preventing the original owners from reclaiming their base or preventing other players from interfering.

  • Establish a Perimeter: Have one or two team members act as lookouts while the others loot. They should watch for incoming players or the returning base owners.
  • Destroy Key Infrastructure: If your goal is to cripple the enemy, consider destroying their Tool Cupboard to prevent them from rebuilding easily. You might also destroy their furnaces or crafting stations.
  • Leave a Message (Optional): Some raiders leave a message, either in chat or by placing items, to taunt their victims or establish dominance. This is purely for psychological effect.
  • Quick Extraction: Once looting is complete, extract your team and your loot as quickly as possible. Have a pre-determined escape route and rendezvous point.
  • Don't Overstay Your Welcome: The longer you linger, the higher the risk of being caught. If you hear or see ss of the base owners returning, prioritize escape.
  • Consider Counter-Raiding: If you know who raided you, you might be able to track them back to their base and initiate a counter-raid.

What to Do with Loot:

  • Distribute Among Team: Share the loot fairly among your raiding party.
  • Store Safely: Transport the loot back to your own base and store it securely in well-protected Storage Boxes.
  • Use or Trade: use the new resources for crafting, upgrading, or trade with other players.

A successful raid is measured not just by the destruction caused, but by the valuable resources extracted. Mastering the art of looting and securing your gains will sificantly contribute to your group's progression and dominance on the server.
