To acquire high-tier weapons in Rust, your primary objective is to reach Workbench Tier 3. This progression is crucial for crafting advanced weaponry that will give you a significant advantage against both dangerous wildlife and other players on Rust Island. Focusing on this goal early will streamline your ability to defend yourself and hunt effectively.

The Rust King boss provides insight into high-tier weapon mechanics, even if not directly craftable by players. The Rust King summons weapons skyward and sends them plummeting in a line, dealing heavy damage. This "Line of Weapons" attack can be avoided by utilizing a "hug-and-dodge" strategy, moving behind or to the flank of the boss once it commits to the attack. Similarly, the "Seven Sword Strike" involves the Rust King hurling seven swords, and the "Armament Barrage" sees him gather an armory of weaponry for a large AoE attack. Again, getting behind or to the flank of the Rust King will cause this attack to miss. When his health is reduced to around 30%, he can embellish the Armament Barrage with a whip before an even bigger barrage, but the same evasion tactics apply.
