Devotion Rank

Devotion Rank is a crucial system in Salt and Sanctuary that deepens your connection to your chosen Creed, unlocking powerful benefits and unique items. Increasing your Devotion Rank requires offering specific items at your Creed's Sanctuary. Each Creed has its own set of offerings, and the rewards vary significantly. Maxing out your Devotion Rank with a Creed is highly recommended for any build.

How to Increase Devotion Rank

To increase your Devotion Rank, you must offer specific items at an Altar within a Sanctuary belonging to your current Creed. Interact with the Altar and select the "Offer Tribute" option. The required items and the amount needed will be displayed. Each successful offering grants you Devotion points, pushing you towards the next rank.

There are generally three types of offerings:

  • Creed-Specific Offerings: These are unique items directly tied to your chosen Creed. For example, the Devara's Light Creed requires Goldenwine, while The Iron Ones demand Stone Roots.
  • Common Offerings: These are more generic items that can be offered to any Creed, though they might be less efficient than Creed-specific items. Examples include Salt Shards (found from various enemies) and Gray Pearls (rare drops from certain bosses or found in hidden chests).
  • Boss Offerings: After defeating a boss, you often receive a special item that can be offered for a significant boost in Devotion. These are typically one-time offerings per boss.

Devotion Rank Rewards

Each Devotion Rank provides increasingly valuable rewards. These can include:

  • New Merchant Inventory: Higher ranks unlock new, more powerful items for purchase from the Merchants at your Sanctuary. This often includes advanced weapons, armor, spells, and consumables.
  • Enhanced Buffs: The buffs provided by your Creed (e.g., healing over time from Devara's Light, stamina regeneration from The Iron Ones) become more potent or last longer.
  • Unique Relics: At certain ranks, you'll receive powerful Relics that grant passive bonuses or active abilities.
  • Transmutation Recipes: Some Creeds unlock new transmutation recipes at the Blacksmith, allowing you to craft unique weapons and armor from boss materials.

Strategies for Efficient Devotion Ranking

  1. Farm Creed-Specific Items: Identify the primary offering item for your chosen Creed and learn where to farm it efficiently.
    • Devara's Light (Goldenwine): Best farmed from Court Sorcerers in the Castle of Storms and Dome of the Forgotten.
    • The Iron Ones (Stone Roots): Dropped by Iron Knights in the Red Hall of Cages and Hager's Cavern.
    • The Stone Roots (Amber Idols): Found from Crypt Keepers in the Watching Woods and Hager's Cavern.
    • Keepers of Fire and Sky (Bloody Writ): Dropped by Firebrand enemies in the Red Hall of Cages and Crypt of Dead Gods.
    • The House of Splendor (Silver Leaf): Farmed from Whispermen in the Dome of the Forgotten and Pitchwoods.
    • Order of the Betrayer (Black Salt): Obtained from Bound Monsters in the Hager's Cavern and Ziggurat of Dust.
    • The Betrayer (Shimmering Pearl): Dropped by Split Swordsmen in the Ziggurat of Dust and The Ruined Temple.
  2. Utilize Boss Offerings: Always offer boss remains to your Creed for a quick and substantial Devotion boost. pick up the Desecrated Remains or similar items after defeating a boss.
  3. Explore Thoroughly: Many Creed-specific items and common offerings are found in chests or as rare drops from various enemies. A thorough exploration of each area will yield a steady supply.
  4. Consider Changing Creeds (Carefully): While you can change Creeds, doing so will reset your Devotion Rank with your previous Creed. Only do this if you are absolutely sure you want to commit to a new Creed, as it's a significant setback. To change Creeds, you must speak to the Stone Guide in the Sanctuary of the Three (or any other neutral Sanctuary) and select "Abandon Creed." You will then be able to join a new one.

By actively engaging with the Devotion Rank system, you'll unlock the full potential of your chosen Creed and gain a significant advantage in your journey through Salt and Sanctuary.
