Shizumaru Hisame, often encountered as a mid-to-late game boss, is characterized by his unpredictable movements and powerful umbrella attacks. He has several multi-hit special moves that can be difficult to block, and his aerial attacks can be particularly tricky to counter. Phases: Shizumaru doesn't have distinct health-based phases, but his aggression increases as his health depletes. He will use his umbrella to create whirlwinds (236A/B/C) that cover a wide area and his diving attack (j.214A/B/C) more frequently. Weaknesses: Shizumaru is vulnerable to anti-air attacks when he commits to his aerial dives. His recovery frames after certain special moves, especially his ground-based umbrella attacks, can be punished with fast pokes or heavy slashes. Strategy: Maintain mid-range distance and bait out his special moves. Block his multi-hit attacks and look for openings during his recovery. Use your character's fastest anti-air to intercept his jumps. If you have Rage Explosion, save it for a guaranteed Lightning Blade when he's vulnerable. Disarming him can significantly reduce his threat, as his umbrella is central to his offense. Rewards: Completing his story unlocks his character for play (if not already available) and grants in-game currency.
