During a match, certain temporary 'items' can appear on the stage, offering strategic advantages. The most common is the Meat item, which restores a small portion of your health when picked up. This can be a crucial lifeline in close matches, so controlling the center of the stage to grab it before your opponent is often a priority. Another item is the Bomb, which, when picked up, can be thrown at your opponent by pressing a specific input (usually D). A successful bomb hit deals moderate damage and can knock down your opponent, creating an opening for further attacks. These items introduce an element of stage control and risk/reward, as going for them can leave you vulnerable, but securing them can provide a significant advantage.
