Stats Explained

In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, understanding Sekiro's core stats – Vitality and Posture – is paramount to survival. Vitality is your health bar; when it depletes, you die. Posture, however, represents your defensive stability. If your Posture bar fills up, Sekiro becomes staggered and vulnerable to a critical Deathblow, regardless of his remaining Vitality.

Vitality is increased by collecting Prayer Beads and combining them into Prayer Necklaces at a Sculptor's Idol. Each necklace permanently raises your maximum Vitality. Posture is also increased through Prayer Necklaces. While Vitality is straightforward health, Posture is more dynamic. Blocking attacks fills your Posture bar, but perfect deflections (parries) deal significant Posture damage to your enemy while minimally impacting your own. This encourages aggressive, defensive play.

Attack Power is another crucial aspect, though not a traditional stat. It increases permanently when you perform a Deathblow on the main story bosses after they have been weakened. This means defeating a boss once and then performing a second, lethal Deathblow on them will increase your overall Attack Power. Consumable items like Ako's Sugar can temporarily boost your Attack Power, making your strikes more potent for a limited duration. Mastering the interplay between Vitality, Posture, and Attack Power is the key to Sekiro's challenging combat.

Understanding Sekiro's Stats:

Stat Description How to Improve
Vitality Health Prayer Beads (form Prayer Necklaces)
Posture Defensive Stability Prayer Beads (form Prayer Necklaces)
Attack Power Damage dealt Deathblows on main bosses, Consumables (temporary)

Prioritize Prayer Bead collection for permanent stat increases.
