Loot & Currency

In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Sen serves as the primary currency, used for purchasing items from merchants and sometimes for other interactions. Experience Points (XP) are gained from defeating enemies and are used to unlock new skills at Sculptor's Idols. Understanding how to efficiently gather both is key to progressing through the game. Enemies will drop varying amounts of Sen and XP depending on their type and difficulty. Certain items, like Mibu Balloon of Wealth, can temporarily increase Sen acquisition. Kuro's Charm, if you choose to return it to Kuro, will increase the difficulty by making enemies deal more Vitality damage, but also increases XP and Sen gains. Be mindful of your Sen, as dying without depositing it at a Sculptor's Idol can lead to its loss. Loot can also include consumables like Pellets, Sugars (Ako's, Ungo's, Gachiin's), and crafting materials for your Prosthetic Tools. Some enemies may drop specific items crucial for progression or upgrades. For instance, defeating an Ashina Soldier might yield Sen and potentially a Ceramic Shard, which can be used to lure enemies. Always be on the lookout for shining items on the ground, as these are typically lootable. Some enemies, like the Ashina Soldier (Hassou Stance) and Ashina Soldier (Matchlock Rifle), provide a consistent source of Sen and XP. Early game exploration can yield items like Ungo's Sugar, Ako's Sugar, Pellets, and Fistful of Ash. Be aware that in New Game Plus, enemy drops and XP values may be adjusted. Collecting all loot by holding down the desated button is a fundamental practice for any aspiring shinobi.
