Sculptor's Idol Functions
Sculptor's Idols are vital checkpoints in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, serving as resting points where You can recover Vitality, replenish Healing Gourds, and manage their inventory and skills. Interacting with an Idol also respawns most enemies in the area, a common mechanic in FromSoftware titles.
When Sekiro is wounded, he can rest at a Sculptor's Idol to recover his health. This is also where You can spend their accumulated Skill Points to learn new Shinobi Arts and Combat Arts, enhancing Sekiro's combat capabilities. The Sculptor, a key NPC found at the Dilapidated Temple, can upgrade Sekiro's Prosthetic Tools using materials found throughout the world, and these upgrades are also accessed via the Sculptor's Idol.
Furthermore, Sculptor's Idols are the primary means of fast travel between discovered locations. By selecting a previously visited Idol from the menu, Sekiro can instantly warp to that location, greatly aiding exploration and backtracking. The first Idol encountered is at the Dilapidated Temple, where You receives the Healing Gourd and learns about basic mechanics like Posture and Deathblows.
Interacting with an Idol also allows players to manage their inventory, such as using Gourd Seeds to increase the number of Healing Gourd uses or offering collected items to NPCs like Emma for further benefits. The Idols are visually distinct, often appearing as carved wooden statues, and are strategically placed before challenging encounters or after significant exploration segments.
