Dilapidated Temple Walkthrough

The Dilapidated Temple serves as Sekiro's starting area and a crucial hub for early-game progression. Upon awakening, players will find themselves in this serene yet broken sanctuary, where they are introduced to the fundamental mechanics of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. This area acts as a tutorial zone, guiding players through movement, combat basics, and the initial interactions with key NPCs who will aid in their journey.

Your first objective upon gaining control of Sekiro is to interact with the Ornamental Letter. Following the on-screen prompts, you'll learn basic movement, including walking, running, and crouching. You'll then be guided to hug walls, a mechanic essential for stealth and navigating tight spaces, indicated by white scratch marks. The initial area also introduces the concept of Eavesdropping, allowing you to glean valuable information from unsuspecting enemies. After this, you'll receive the Kusabimaru, your primary weapon, and the Healing Gourd, your main source of healing. The Dilapidated Temple is also where you meet the Sculptor, who can attach and upgrade prosthetic tools, and Emma, who can enhance your Healing Gourd. Hanbei the Undying is also present for combat training. Before leaving for Ashina Outskirts, explore the temple grounds for any initial items, such as a Light Coin Purse found behind the main structure.
