Equipment
In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, 'equipment' primarily refers to Sekiro's Prosthetic Arm and the various tools and attachments that can be equipped to it. Unlike traditional RPGs, Sekiro does not feature armor or weapon slots for You character. Instead, his combat prowess is enhanced through his Shinobi Prosthetics and learned Combat Arts.
The Prosthetic Arm, given to Sekiro by the Sculptor, is the foundation upon which all other enhancements are built. It can be upgraded using various materials found throughout the world, and specific tools can be crafted and attached to it. These tools offer a wide array of offensive, defensive, and utility functions, allowing for diverse combat approaches.
Key aspects of Sekiro's 'equipment' (Prosthetics):
- Prosthetic Arm: The base for all prosthetic tools, provided by the Sculptor.
- Prosthetic Tools: These are crafted and attached to the arm, consuming Spirit Emblems to use. Examples include:
- Loaded Shuriken: Fires shurikens to interrupt attacks or deal chip damage.
- Loaded Axe: A heavy-hitting tool capable of breaking enemy guards and dealing significant posture damage.
- Firecrackers: Can stun enemies, creating openings for attacks or escapes.
- Mist Raven: Allows for a quick evasive dash, useful for repositioning or dodging.
- Sabimaru: A segmented blade that inflicts poison buildup.
- Combat Arts: These are special sword techniques learned from trainers or obtained from defeating bosses. They consume Spirit Emblems and offer powerful offensive maneuvers. Examples include Whirlwind Slash, Ichimonji, and Ascending Carp.
- Consumables: While not 'equipped' in the traditional sense, items like Pellets, Sugars (Ako's, Gokan's, Ungo's), and Divine Confetti play a crucial role in combat and are managed from the inventory.
The effectiveness of these tools and arts depends heavily on the player's ability to integrate them into the core combat loop of deflection and posture management. Experimenting with different Prosthetic Tools and Combat Arts is key to finding strategies that suit your playstyle and overcome specific enemy challenges.
