Sekiro's combat revolves around the Posture system. Instead of depleting a health bar, your primary goal is often to break an enemy's Posture, opening them up for a Deathblow. Light attacks ('R1' / 'RB' / Left Click) deal damage and build Posture. The most critical mechanic is Deflecting ('L1' / 'LB' / Right Click), which, when timed perfectly, negates damage and deals significant Posture damage to the enemy. Guarding (holding 'L1' / 'LB' / Right Click) reduces incoming damage but still builds your Posture. Learn to read enemy attacks and deflect them consistently.
