The Guardian Ape is a challenging two-phase boss. In phase one, he's a beast. Use the Firecracker Prosthetic Tool to stun him and get in damage. Deflect his sword-like arm swings and dodge his grab attacks. Watch out for his perilous sweep and poop throw. In phase two, he loses his head and wields a sword. He becomes a terror-inflicting foe. His sword attacks can be deflected. When he does his massive overhead slam, deflect it to stun him and use the Loaded Spear to pull out the centipede from his neck for massive Posture damage.
