Two decades after his coup, an elderly Isshin Ashina lies on his deathbed while the Ashina clan faces assault from the Interior Ministry. His adoptive grandson, Genichiro Ashina, seeks to use Kuro's blood to create an immortal army. Disapproving, Isshin instructs Emma to warn Wolf and Kuro. Before they can escape, Genichiro confronts Wolf.
