The Loaded Axe prosthetic tool in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a powerful weapon designed for breaking enemy Posture and dealing significant damage, particularly against heavily armored opponents or those who rely on blocking. Its slow wind-up is compensated by its immense impact, capable of shattering guards and staggering even the most resilient foes. When used effectively, the Loaded Axe can create critical openings for follow-up attacks, including devastating Deathblows. The key to maximizing its potential lies in timing its use to exploit moments when an enemy is recovering from an attack or is otherwise vulnerable. This prosthetic is not a tool for rapid offense but rather for calculated, impactful strikes that disrupt an opponent's defensive stance and open them up for further punishment. Mastering the Loaded Axe requires patience and an understanding of enemy attack patterns, allowing players to identify the opportune moments to unleash its crushing power.

To effectively utilize the Loaded Axe and its follow-up attacks, focus on identifying enemy attack windows. For instance, after deflecting a heavy strike from an enemy like the Ashina Elite, there is often a brief recovery period. This is the ideal moment to deploy the Loaded Axe. A direct hit can not only deal significant Vitality damage but also drastically increase the enemy's Posture gauge. Once an enemy is staggered or their Posture is sufficiently broken by the axe, a player can then transition into a series of sword combos or even another prosthetic tool for maximum damage. A particularly effective follow-up involves using the Shinobi Firecracker immediately after a successful Loaded Axe hit. The stun from the firecracker can prevent the enemy from recovering and attacking, allowing for a few more sword strikes before they can regain their composure. Another potent strategy is to use the Loaded Axe to break an enemy's guard and then immediately follow up with a Loaded Spear thrust to pull them off balance, creating an opening for a Deathblow. This prosthetic is also excellent for breaking the Posture of larger enemies, such as the Ogre, making them more susceptible to critical hits. practice the timing of the Loaded Axe's swing, as a mistimed attack can leave them vulnerable to a counter-attack from the enemy.
