Drill Knight is the mini-boss of Grind Knight's Lair, a relentless foe who uses his powerful drill arm to attack. Drill Knight will charge across the screen, attempting to impale Shovel Knight. He can also burrow into the ground and emerge from below, often with little warning. His most dangerous attack involves spinning his drill arm rapidly, creating a whirlwind that pulls Shovel Knight in and deals continuous damage. The key to defeating Drill Knight is to stay mobile and anticipate his movements. When he charges, jump over him and attack his back. When he burrows, watch for dust clouds to predict his re-emergence. During his whirlwind attack, try to stay as far away as possible or use a Relic with invincibility frames to pass through it. A well-timed Shovel Drop can stun him, creating an opening for multiple hits. Relics that deal high burst damage, such as the Dust Knuckles, or those that provide temporary invincibility, like the Phase Locket, are highly recommended. This fight is a test of endurance and quick reflexes.
