Water is the defining feature of the Secret Fountain. When submerged, Shovel Knight's movement is slower, and his jump height is reduced. However, you can perform a 'swim' action by repeatedly pressing the jump button, allowing for more controlled vertical movement. Strong currents can push you rapidly, either towards safety or into danger. Use these currents strategically to cross large gaps or bypass obstacles. Watch out for water jets that can propel you upwards or sideways. Enemies like the Angler Fish and Water Sprites are agile in water. Angler Fish will try to lure you with their lights before attacking, while Water Sprites are quick and can be difficult to hit. Some areas will feature crumbling platforms that fall into water, so quick traversal is necessary. Look for hidden passages behind waterfalls or under submerged ruins. Relics that allow for quick movement or provide temporary invincibility, such as the Phase Locket, are particularly useful in this water-logged environment.
