Cogs are a crucial collectible in Shovel Knight Dig. These shiny gears are scattered throughout each biome, often hidden in secret passages, behind destructible blocks, or guarded by tougher enemies. There are a set number of Cogs in each biome, and collecting all of them in a single run will unlock a special reward or bonus. The primary use for Cogs is to unlock new Relics and Gear at the Surface Camp. The Relic Keeper and Gear Smith require a certain number of Cogs to make new items available for purchase. This means that even if you don't complete a full run, collecting Cogs is always a worthwhile endeavor. Prioritize exploring every nook and cranny of each level to maximize your Cog collection. Some Cogs are behind locked doors, requiring a Key to access. Others might be in areas that require specific Relics or advanced platforming techniques to reach. Don't be afraid to experiment with your Shovel Drop and wall jumps to uncover these hidden treasures.
