While James is not a combat expert, understanding advanced techniques can significantly improve your chances of survival and conserve resources.
- Stagger & Finish: Many enemies can be staggered by a few melee hits or a shotgun blast. Once staggered, quickly switch to a handgun for a headshot to finish them efficiently.
- Environmental Traps: Some areas have environmental hazards (e.g., narrow corridors, explosive barrels) that can be used to your advantage. Lure enemies into these spots.
- Back Attacks: If you can get behind an enemy, your melee attacks often deal more damage or have a higher chance to knock them down.
- Quick Turn & Run: The quick turn (L1 + Down on PS5) is invaluable for escaping dangerous situations or quickly re-orienting yourself in combat. Don't be afraid to run past enemies you don't need to fight.
- Flashlight Management: Turn off your flashlight when hiding or trying to sneak past enemies. It makes you less visible, especially to Mannequins and Lying Figures.
- Audio Cues: The radio static is your best friend. Learn to interpret its intensity to gauge enemy proximity and type. Listen for footsteps and groans.
- Target Prioritization: In groups, prioritize the most dangerous enemies first (e.g., Nurses with pipes) or those blocking your path.
Tips: Practice makes perfect. Experiment with different weapons and tactics against common enemies to find what works best for your playstyle and resource levels.
