Phases & Attacks:

  1. Phase 1 (75-100% Health): The Gardener primarily uses a 'Vine Whip' attack, a sweeping melee strike that covers a wide arc. It also has a 'Thorn Projectile' attack, launching slow-moving projectiles that inflict minor damage and a temporary 'Poison' status effect.
  2. Phase 2 (25-75% Health): The Gardener becomes more aggressive. It introduces a 'Root Slam' attack, where it slams its vines into the ground, causing small roots to erupt from the floor, dealing area-of-effect damage. It also gains a 'Floral Shield' ability, temporarily reducing incoming damage.
  3. Phase 3 (0-25% Health): The Gardener's movements become erratic. It will frequently use both the 'Vine Whip' and 'Root Slam' attacks in quick succession. Its 'Thorn Projectile' attack now launches multiple projectiles.

Weaknesses:

  • Fire: The Gardener is highly susceptible to fire damage. If you have any 'Molotov Cocktails' (craftable with 'Alcohol' and 'Torn Cloth'), now is the time to use them.
  • Headshots: Aiming for the exposed, pulsating 'flower' on its head deals significantly increased damage.

Strategy:

Keep your distance during Phase 1, dodging the Vine Whip and shooting the head with your Rusty Revolver. Use the Kitchen Knife for quick melee attacks if you run out of ammo and need to create space. During Phase 2, when it uses Floral Shield, switch to melee attacks or conserve ammo until the shield drops. Prioritize dodging the Root Slam. In Phase 3, stay mobile and use any remaining Molotovs. If you have the Hunting Rifle, a few well-placed headshots can end the fight quickly. Always keep an eye on your stamina for dodging.

Rewards:

  • Gardener's Thorn: A unique crafting component for a powerful melee weapon.
  • Large Health Pack: A significant health restoration item.
  • Story Progression.
