Your journey through the wondrous world of Skylands begins with a cataclysmic event: the nefarious Kaos, a dark Portal Master, has shattered the Core of Light, the very source of power and balance in Skylands. This act of pure malice has banished the brave Skylanders to Earth, transforming them into inanimate toys. It falls to you, the newly appointed Portal Master, to bring them back!

The Beginning: Restoring the Core of Light

Your adventure kicks off in the tranquil but now imperiled Ruins of Skylands. Here, you'll meet the wise and ancient Master Eon, who will guide you through the initial steps of understanding your role. Your primary objective is to reassemble the shattered Core of Light. This involves traveling across various elemental realms, each guarded by unique challenges and enemies.

Chapter 1: The Shattered Islands
Your first task is to recover the First Core Fragment. This fragment is located deep within the Perilous Pastures. Be prepared to face off against Kaos's initial minions, including the pesky Chompies and the more formidable Greebles. use your starting Skylanders, such as Spyro (Magic), Gill Grunt (Water), and Trigger Happy (Tech), to overcome obstacles. Remember to use their elemental strengths against specific enemies!
- Strategy Tip: Look for hidden areas that often contain Soul Gems for your Skylanders, unlocking powerful new abilities. The first Soul Gem for Spyro can be found behind a waterfall in the Perilous Pastures.
- Item Location: Keep an eye out for the Winged Sapphire in the Perilous Pastures, usually found off the main path near a crumbling bridge. This item boosts your gold collection.
Chapter 2: The Dark Forest
The journey continues into the Dark Forest, where the Second Core Fragment awaits. This area introduces new environmental puzzles and enemies like the Arkeyan Snipers. You'll need to navigate treacherous paths and activate ancient mechanisms. A Skylander of the Life element, such as Stealth Elf, can be particularly effective here due to the abundance of plant-based enemies.
- Puzzle Solution: To open the ancient gate leading to the fragment, you'll need to activate three Elemental Switches in the correct order. The order is typically hinted at by glowing runes nearby.
- Collectible: The Legendary Treasure Chest in the Dark Forest is often guarded by a group of stronger enemies. Defeat them to claim valuable gold and experience.

Facing Kaos's Minions and the Arkeyan Threat

As you gather more fragments, Kaos will grow increasingly desperate, unleashing more powerful foes and employing ancient Arkeyan technology against you. The story delves deeper into the history of the Arkeyans, an ancient civilization responsible for many of Skylands' wonders and dangers.

Chapter 7: The Arkeyan Armory
In the Arkeyan Armory, you'll encounter the first major Arkeyan constructs, such as the Arkeyan Juggernauts. These heavily armored enemies require strategic attacks and often a Skylander with high damage output or crowd control abilities. The Third Core Fragment is located within this heavily fortified area.
- Combat Strategy: For Juggernauts, try to get behind them to exploit their weak points, or use area-of-effect attacks to clear out smaller enemies before focusing on the larger threat. A Tech Skylander like Drill Sergeant can be very effective against Arkeyan machinery.
- Hidden Item: A Story Scroll detailing the history of the Arkeyans can be found on a high ledge accessible only by a flying Skylander (e.g., Sonic Boom) or by using a jump pad.
Chapter 12: Kaos's Fortress
The penultimate challenge leads you to Kaos's Fortress, a sprawling stronghold filled with traps, puzzles, and his most elite minions. Here, you'll collect the Final Core Fragment. Expect to face off against multiple waves of enemies and navigate complex environmental hazards. Having a diverse team of Skylanders from different elements is crucial here.
- Boss Prep: Before entering the final chamber, ensure your favorite Skylanders are fully upgraded and equipped with their best Hats for stat boosts. Consider bringing a Skylander with healing abilities if available, or one with high defense.
- Environmental Hazard: Watch out for the Crushing Walls and Electric Floors that are prevalent throughout the fortress. Time your movements carefully to avoid taking unnecessary damage.

The Climax: Confronting Kaos

With all Core Fragments recovered, you will finally confront Kaos in his ultimate lair. This epic showdown will test all your skills as a Portal Master. Kaos will use various elemental attacks and summon powerful creatures to stop you from restoring the Core of Light.

The Final Battle: Kaos's battle has multiple phases. In the first phase, he will attack directly. In subsequent phases, he will retreat to a protected area and summon minions or activate environmental hazards. Focus on dodging his powerful attacks and clearing out his summoned forces quickly.
Restoring the Core: Once Kaos is defeated, you will place the final fragment, fully restoring the Core of Light and bringing balance back to Skylands. The Skylanders are returned to their true forms, and peace is temporarily restored. However, Kaos's defeat often leaves a lingering question: will he return? (Spoiler: He usually does!)

By following these steps and using your Skylanders' unique abilities, you will successfully restore the Core of Light and become a true hero of Skylands!
