Chapter 12: Glacier Gully

Welcome to Glacier Gully, a treacherous icy landscape filled with new challenges and hidden treasures. This chapter requires careful platforming and strategic combat. Be prepared for slippery surfaces and enemies that thrive in the cold!

Initial Ascent and First Encounters

  1. Starting Point: As you begin, head straight along the icy path. You'll immediately encounter several Ice Imps. These small, agile enemies can be annoying in groups, so focus on taking them out quickly with area-of-effect attacks if possible.
  2. First Treasure Chest: After dispatching the initial Ice Imps, look to your left. There's a small, elevated platform accessible by a jump. On this platform, you'll find your first Treasure Chest containing some gold.
  3. Elemental Gate (Water): Continue forward. You'll soon come across a Water Elemental Gate. If you have a Water Skylander, activate it to access a bonus area.
    • Inside the Water Gate: Navigate the slippery ice platforms. You'll find a few more Ice Imps and a larger Ice Golem. Defeat them to claim the Winged Sapphire located at the end of this path. This valuable gem increases your gold collection rate.

The Frozen Lake and Ice Pillars

  1. The Frozen Lake: After the Water Elemental Gate (or bypassing it), you'll reach a wide, frozen lake. Be cautious as the surface is very slippery. Several Ice Imps and a couple of Frost Giants patrol this area. The Frost Giants are slow but hit hard; try to keep your distance and use ranged attacks.
  2. Story Scroll Location: On the far side of the frozen lake, before the next set of platforms, look for a small alcove to your right. Tucked away here is the Story Scroll for Glacier Gully. Don't miss it!
  3. Ascending Ice Pillars: The path continues by jumping across a series of floating ice pillars. Timing your jumps is crucial here, as some pillars move. If you fall, you'll take damage and respawn at the last solid ground.
  4. Hat Location (Ice Cream Hat): Midway through the ice pillar section, keep an eye out for a slightly out-of-the-way pillar that leads to a small, isolated platform. On this platform, you'll discover the Ice Cream Hat, which boosts your Critical Hit chance.

The Cavern and Final Confrontation

  1. Entering the Cavern: After successfully navigating the ice pillars, you'll enter a large ice cavern. This area is teeming with enemies. Expect a mix of Ice Imps, Frost Giants, and a new enemy type: the Ice Sentry, which fires projectiles from a distance. Prioritize taking out the Sentries first.
  2. Soul Gem (Whirlwind): In the center of the cavern, there's a large, frozen block. Destroy it to reveal the Soul Gem for Whirlwind. If you have Whirlwind, this will unlock a powerful new upgrade for her.
  3. Kaos's Challenge Portal: Near the exit of the cavern, you'll find a Kaos's Challenge Portal. Interact with it to attempt the optional challenge for this chapter. Successfully completing it will earn you a significant gold bonus and an Accolade.
  4. Exit Glacier Gully: After clearing the cavern and collecting all items, proceed through the exit portal to complete Chapter 12: Glacier Gully. Congratulations, Portal Master! You've braved the cold and emerged victorious.
