Chapter 4: Leviathan Lagoon
Welcome to Leviathan Lagoon, a watery wonderland filled with new challenges and treasures! This chapter introduces more complex environmental puzzles and new enemy types. Be prepared for some platforming over water and engaging with aquatic foes.
Initial Area & First Puzzle
Upon starting the chapter, you'll find yourself on a small beach. Head forward and defeat the initial wave of Chompies and a few Drow Pirate enemies. These pirates have a ranged attack, so prioritize them.
- Treasure Chest (1/3): After clearing the first group of enemies, look to your immediate left. There's a small alcove with your first treasure chest.
- Story Scroll (1/2): Continue along the main path. You'll soon come across a small bridge. Before crossing, check the area to the right of the bridge for the first Story Scroll.
You'll then encounter a gate blocked by a Water Elemental Barrier. To open it, you'll need to activate two pressure plates. One is directly in front of the gate, and the other is across a small gap to the left. Use a Skylander with a good jump or ranged attack to hit the second plate, or simply walk over to it.
The Sunken Shipwreck
Once through the gate, you'll enter an area dominated by a sunken shipwreck. This section involves a lot of platforming and dealing with new enemies.
- New Enemy: Gillmen: These aquatic enemies can be tough. They have a lunge attack and can be quite agile. Focus on dodging their attacks and using your strongest abilities.
- Hat Location: Pirate Hat: As you navigate the shipwreck, you'll find a series of broken planks leading to a higher platform. The Pirate Hat is located on this platform, offering a boost to your Critical Hit chance.
Continue through the shipwreck, defeating more Gillmen and Drow Pirates. You'll need to jump across several gaps and potentially activate another pressure plate to proceed.
The Coral Caves
After the shipwreck, you'll enter a vibrant coral cave system. This area introduces more environmental hazards.
- Elemental Gate (Water): Early in the Coral Caves, you'll spot a Water Elemental Gate. If you have a Water Skylander (like Gill Grunt or Zap), you can open this gate to access a bonus area.
- Inside the Water Elemental Gate: This area typically contains a significant amount of gold, a few challenging enemies, and sometimes a Soul Gem or Legendary Treasure. explore thoroughly!
- Treasure Chest (2/3): Within the main path of the Coral Caves, look for a hidden path behind some large coral formations. This leads to the second Treasure Chest.
Navigate the winding paths of the caves, being mindful of falling rocks and geysers that can damage your Skylanders. You'll encounter more Gillmen and possibly some Chompies.
The Kraken's Lair Approach
As you exit the Coral Caves, you'll find yourself on a series of platforms leading towards a larger, open area. This is the approach to the chapter's boss.
- Story Scroll (2/2): Before entering the final boss arena, look for a small, elevated platform to your right. You'll need to jump to reach it, and the second Story Scroll is located there.
- Legendary Treasure: Kraken's Eye: On the left side of the path leading to the boss, there's a small island accessible by jumping. The Kraken's Eye Legendary Treasure is found here. This treasure provides a permanent stat boost to all your Skylanders.
Boss Battle: The Kraken
The final challenge of Leviathan Lagoon is a confrontation with the mighty Kraken. This boss battle requires strategic movement and timing.
- Phase 1: Tentacle Attacks: The Kraken will primarily attack with its tentacles, slamming them down onto the arena. Watch for the shadows on the ground to predict where they will strike and move out of the way. After a tentacle slams, it will be momentarily vulnerable. Attack the tentacle with your strongest abilities.
- Phase 2: Head Exposure: Once you've damaged enough tentacles, the Kraken's head will emerge from the water. This is your main opportunity to deal significant damage to the boss. Unleash all your powerful attacks on its head.
- Environmental Hazards: The Kraken may also summon smaller Gillmen or create whirlpools that can pull your Skylanders in. Stay mobile and prioritize taking out any summoned enemies.
- Recommended Skylanders: Skylanders with high damage output or good area-of-effect attacks are excellent for this fight. Ranged Skylanders can also be effective for safely attacking tentacles.
Repeat the phases until the Kraken is defeated. Congratulations, Portal Master!
