Chapter 9: Crawling Catacombs

Welcome to the Crawling Catacombs, Portal Master! This chapter is a subterranean maze filled with traps, puzzles, and plenty of enemies. Keep your wits about you and your Skylanders ready for action. A strong Tech Skylander will be particularly useful here for the elemental gate.

Initial Descent and First Encounters

1. As you enter, proceed along the main path. You'll immediately encounter a few Chompy Pods and a couple of Chompies. Clear them out to safely move forward.

2. Look to your left after the first Chompy encounter. You'll spot a small alcove containing some treasure. Collect the Gold here.

3. Continue down the main path. You'll come across a series of moving platforms. Time your jumps carefully to avoid falling into the abyss. There are usually a few Chompies on these platforms, so be prepared to fight while navigating.

4. After the moving platforms, you'll reach a wider area. Here, you'll face your first group of Gravekeepers. These enemies are tough and can summon more Chompies. Focus your attacks on the Gravekeepers first to prevent them from overwhelming you.

5. Once the Gravekeepers are defeated, explore the area thoroughly. To the right, behind some destructible debris, you'll find a hidden chest containing a good amount of Gold.

The Tech Elemental Gate and Beyond

This section requires a Tech Skylander to proceed to a bonus area. If you don't have one, you can skip this part and continue with the main path.

1. After the Gravekeeper encounter, look for a path leading off to the left. This is where the Tech Elemental Gate is located.

2. Place a Tech Skylander on the Portal of Power to open the gate. Inside, you'll find a challenging platforming section with more moving platforms and a few Chompies.

3. Navigate these platforms carefully. At the end of this path, you'll discover a Soul Gem for Hex. Don't miss this valuable upgrade!

4. Return through the Tech Elemental Gate and proceed along the main path.

The Cryptic Puzzle Room

This room introduces a light-based puzzle that requires careful observation.

1. You'll enter a large chamber with several unlit torches and a central pedestal. Around the room, you'll see glowing symbols on the floor.

2. Your goal is to light the torches in the correct order. Observe the pattern of the glowing symbols on the floor. They indicate the sequence. If you light a torch incorrectly, you'll be attacked by a small group of Chompies.

3. Hint: The correct order often follows a simple numerical or directional progression. Pay close attention to the symbols' shapes or the direction they point.

4. Once all torches are lit in the correct sequence, a secret passage will open, revealing a chest containing a Legendary Treasure (often the Ancient Horn in this chapter) and a significant amount of Gold.

The Final Gauntlet

1. After the puzzle room, you'll face a series of corridors guarded by more Gravekeepers and Chompy Pods. Use your most powerful attacks to clear them out quickly.

2. Keep an eye out for destructible walls or hidden paths. In one of these corridors, behind a cracked wall, you can find a Story Scroll detailing the history of the Catacombs.

3. You'll eventually reach a large cavern with a central platform. This is often a mini-boss arena. Be prepared for a larger wave of Gravekeepers, possibly accompanied by a few Kaos's Minions.

4. After defeating all enemies, the path to the exit will open. Before leaving, ensure you've explored every nook and cranny for any remaining Gold or hidden items.

5. Step onto the glowing portal to complete Chapter 9: Crawling Catacombs!
