Spin Dash Chaining
The Spin Dash is your best friend for maintaining and building speed. To perform it, hold down on the D-Pad and press A repeatedly. Release down to launch forward. For advanced players, learn to chain Spin Dashes. As soon as you land from a jump or hit a ramp, immediately hold down and start charging another Spin Dash. This allows you to maintain maximum speed through various obstacles and transitions, preventing any loss of momentum. Practice this technique to seamlessly transition from aerial sections to ground speed bursts.

Homing Attack Momentum
For Sonic, Cream, and Tails, the Homing Attack (press A again in mid-air) isn't just for attacking enemies; it's also a powerful tool for maintaining momentum and reaching higher platforms. By chaining Homing Attacks on multiple enemies or springs, you can stay airborne for extended periods and traverse sections quickly. Learn to identify sequences of enemies or springs that can be used for Homing Attack chains to bypass ground obstacles or reach secret areas. This is especially useful for maintaining speed through vertical sections.
Character-Specific Exploits
Each character has unique ways to exploit level design. For example, Cream's flight can be used to completely bypass entire sections of platforming, saving significant time. Knuckles' glide can be used to cross vast chasms that other characters might struggle with, and his wall climb can open up entirely new vertical pathways. Amy's double jump, while seemingly simple, allows for very precise platforming over dangerous gaps. Experiment with each character to find their optimal routes and shortcuts in every zone. Mastering these character-specific movements is crucial for high-level play and finding all collectibles.
