Story & Plot Summary

In Sonic Advance 3, the nefarious Dr. Eggman has once again unleashed chaos upon the world, but this time with a twist! Using the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds, he attempts to create his ultimate Eggman Empire. However, his experiment goes awry, shattering the world into seven distinct pieces and scattering the Chaos Emeralds across these newly formed zones. Sonic and Tails, separated from their friends, must now navigate these fractured landscapes, reunite with Knuckles, Amy, and Cream, and ultimately thwart Eggman's plans before he can fully harness the Emeralds' power and rebuild the world in his own image.

The Fractured World and Initial Steps

The game begins with Sonic and Tails finding themselves in the first fractured zone, Route 99. Their immediate goal is to locate the other scattered friends and collect the Chaos Emeralds. Each zone acts as a hub world, containing multiple acts and a boss battle. To progress, players must:

Complete Acts: Navigate through each act, reaching the goal ring. Focus on maintaining momentum and using character abilities.
Collect Rings: Essential for survival and accessing Special Stages. Aim for at least 100 rings per act to maximize your chances.
Find Lost Chao: In each act, there are 10 hidden Chao. Collecting all 10 in a single act will unlock a key to a Special Stage.
Defeat Bosses: At the end of each zone, a unique Eggman contraption or robot will challenge you. Learn their patterns and exploit their weaknesses.

Reuniting the Team

As you progress through the zones, you'll encounter your missing friends. Each friend is typically found at the end of a specific zone, after defeating the boss. Once reunited, they become playable characters, offering new team-up abilities and strategies.

Route 99: Sonic and Tails begin their journey here.
Sunset Hill: After clearing Sunset Hill and defeating its boss, you will rescue Knuckles. His gliding and climbing abilities are invaluable for reaching hidden areas.
Ocean Base: Upon completing Ocean Base and its boss, Amy will join your team. Her hammer attack can destroy certain obstacles and her double jump provides extra height.
Twinkle Snow: Following the boss battle in Twinkle Snow, you will find Cream & Cheese. Cream's ability to fly for a short duration and Cheese's projectile attack are excellent for combat and exploration.

The Chaos Emerald Hunt and Special Stages

Collecting the seven Chaos Emeralds is crucial for unlocking the true ending and facing the final boss. Chaos Emeralds are obtained by successfully completing Special Stages. To access a Special Stage:

Collect all 10 Lost Chao in any given act. This will grant you a Special Stage Key.
Locate the Special Stage Portal: These portals are hidden within the acts, often requiring specific character abilities or careful exploration to find. They typically appear as large, shimmering rings.
Enter the Portal with a Key: If you have a key, you'll be transported to a 3D Special Stage where you must collect a set number of rings before time runs out, all while avoiding obstacles.

There are seven Chaos Emeralds in total, meaning you'll need to successfully complete seven Special Stages. Don't worry if you miss one; you can revisit acts to collect Chao and keys at any time.

The Final Confrontation

Once all seven Chaos Emeralds are collected and all friends are reunited, the true final battle against Dr. Eggman and his ultimate creation, the Gemerl robot, will be unlocked. This multi-stage boss fight will test all your skills and character combinations. Successfully defeating Gemerl will lead to the game's true ending and the restoration of the world.
