Recommended Team: Sonic (Leader) & Tails (Partner)

G-Merl is a powerful robotic creation of Dr. Eggman, and a recurring antagonist. This boss fight is a test of your agility and timing. The arena is a series of floating platforms with gaps in between.
Phase 1: Dash and Projectiles
G-Merl will dash across the platforms, attempting to ram you. Jump over him to avoid damage. He will also occasionally stop and fire a volley of projectiles. Dodge these by moving or jumping. After a dash or a projectile attack, G-Merl will briefly pause, exposing his head as a vulnerable spot. Use Sonic's Homing Attack or a well-timed jump to hit his head. Tails' flight can give you extra height to land hits or recover from a missed jump.
Phase 2: Increased Speed and Energy Field
After taking some damage, G-Merl will become faster and may generate a temporary energy field around himself, making him invulnerable. Wait for the energy field to dissipate before attacking. He will also start performing more complex dash patterns. Sonic's speed is crucial for dodging the faster attacks and quickly getting into position to strike. If you're struggling to reach his head, use Tails' Tag Action for a quick boost. Aim for 8-10 hits to defeat the boss. Keep moving and be patient, waiting for the right opening to strike. This fight requires consistent dodging and precise attacks.
