Congratulations on clearing the main story of Sonic Advance 3! However, the adventure is far from over. This game offers a wealth of content to keep you spinning, dashing, and flying long after you've seen the credits roll. True completionists will find themselves revisiting stages, mastering special challenges, and unlocking every secret.

Unlocking the True Ending and Super Forms

To experience the game's true ending and unlock the powerful Super Sonic and Super Shadow forms, you must collect all seven Chaos Emeralds. This is the primary post-game objective and requires dedication.

Collect all 7 Chaos Emeralds: Each of the seven main zones (Sunset Hill, Ocean Base, Toy Kingdom, Twinkle Snow, Cyber Track, Chaos Angel, and Altar Emerald) contains one Chaos Emerald.
- Finding the Special Key: In each zone, you must first locate a hidden Special Key. These keys are often tucked away in obscure paths, behind breakable walls, or at the end of challenging platforming sections. Explore every nook and cranny of each Act (Act 1 and Act 2) within a zone. The key's location is randomized to some extent within a zone, but it will always be in a specific type of hidden area.
- Accessing the Special Stage: Once you collect a Special Key, you'll gain access to a Special Stage after completing the current Act. These stages are reminiscent of the half-pipe stages from Sonic 2, where you collect rings and avoid obstacles.
- Earning the Chaos Emerald: To successfully earn the Chaos Emerald, you must collect the required number of rings within the Special Stage and reach the goal. The ring requirement increases with each subsequent Special Stage. Missing the ring goal or falling off the track will force you to try again, requiring you to find another Special Key in a different Act of the same zone or a different zone entirely.
Defeat the Final Boss (Non-True Ending): After collecting all Chaos Emeralds, replay the final boss battle in the Altar Emerald Zone.
Unlock Super Sonic and Super Shadow: Upon defeating the final boss with all seven Chaos Emeralds in your possession, you will unlock Super Sonic and Super Shadow. These forms can be activated during gameplay by collecting 50 rings and pressing the jump button twice. They grant invincibility, increased speed, and enhanced attacks, but consume rings over time.
Experience the True Ending: The game will then present you with the true ending, revealing the full story and resolution.

Character Unlocks and Team Combinations

Sonic Advance 3 features a unique tag-team system, and unlocking all characters significantly expands your gameplay options and replay value.

Knuckles the Echidna: Unlocked after completing Sunset Hill Zone.
Amy Rose: Unlocked after completing Toy Kingdom Zone.

Accessing Time Attack: From the main menu, select "Time Attack."
Objective: Complete each Act as quickly as possible. Your best times are recorded for each character pairing.

- Memorize Stage Layouts: Learn the optimal paths, ring placements, and enemy locations.
- Utilize Character Abilities: Choose the team best suited for speedrunning a particular stage. Sonic's speed, Tails' flight, and Shadow's Chaos Control are invaluable.
- Minimize Damage: Getting hit slows you down. Master enemy patterns and avoid unnecessary confrontations.
- Ring Management: While rings aren't directly tied to your time, having 50 rings for a Super Form activation can drastically cut down on time in later stages.
Aim for Gold: Strive to beat your personal bests and achieve the fastest times across all acts and zones.

Collecting All Chao

Scattered throughout the game's zones are hidden Chao. These adorable creatures are purely for collection and offer no in-game advantage, but finding them all is a rewarding challenge for completionists.

Chao Locations: Chao are typically hidden in breakable containers, behind false walls, or in areas requiring specific character abilities to reach.
Exploration is Key: Thoroughly explore every path, especially those that seem out of the way. Use characters like Knuckles to break walls or Tails/Cream to fly to high platforms.
Keep Track: The game doesn't explicitly tell you which Chao you've collected in a stage, so it's advisable to keep a personal checklist if you're aiming for 100%.

Mastering All Boss Battles
