Act 1 introduces the zero-gravity mechanics. In these sections, your jumps are much higher and slower, and you can move horizontally in mid-air with greater control. However, you'll also encounter laser grids that can damage you. Time your movements carefully to avoid them. Look for switches that deactivate laser grids or activate platforms. For Sonic, his Homing Attack is useful for navigating enemy clusters in zero-gravity. Tails' flight is incredibly powerful here, allowing him to bypass many of the zero-gravity challenges and laser grids with ease. Knuckles can glide through zero-gravity sections with more control than other characters, and his climbing ability is still useful on the rocket's metallic walls. Amy's Hammer Jump can give her extra height in zero-gravity, and her Hammer Attack is good for clearing enemies. Be aware of enemies that can push you into hazards. There are often hidden passages behind destructible walls or floors.
