Act 1 introduces the slippery ice physics. Your character will slide further after stopping, so account for this in your jumps and movements. You'll encounter ice blocks that can be broken with a Spin Attack or Amy's Hammer. Some sections feature strong gusts of wind that can push you off platforms or into enemies; time your movements between gusts. For Sonic, maintaining speed can help you slide across long icy stretches quickly. Tails can fly over many of the slippery platforms and windy sections, making navigation much easier. Knuckles can climb icy walls, which are less slippery than the ground, offering a more stable path. Amy's Hammer Attack is effective against the ice blocks and enemies. Look for hidden passages behind breakable ice walls. There are often springs and dash panels that can help you gain momentum across the ice. Be careful of enemies that can freeze you on contact.
