Every zone in Sonic Advance is designed with multiple pathways, and many contain hidden routes that can lead to shortcuts, large ring caches, or extra lives. These often require specific character abilities or careful observation:
- Destructible Walls/Floors: Look for cracked walls or suspicious-looking blocks. A Spin Attack (or Amy's Hammer) can often break these, revealing a hidden passage.
- Behind Waterfalls: In zones like Neo Green Hill or Angel Island, waterfalls can sometimes conceal hidden springs or tunnels.
- High Platforms: Many shortcuts and secrets are located on high platforms that require precise jumps, Tails' flight, Knuckles' climbing, or Amy's Hammer Jump to reach.
- False Walls: Occasionally, a wall might appear solid but can be run through, revealing a secret. These are less common but worth looking for.
- Character-Specific Routes: Knuckles' ability to climb walls often opens up unique, direct paths that other characters cannot access. Tails can fly over entire sections, effectively creating his own shortcuts.
Experiment with each character in every stage to uncover all possible routes. Replaying stages with different characters is key to finding all the hidden secrets.
