Extra Characters for 2P Battle

To spice up your two-player competitive matches, several iconic characters can be unlocked for use in the 2P Battle mode. These characters often come with unique abilities or stat distributions that differ from their main story counterparts.

  • Amy Rose: Complete all 180 Emblems in the game. This is a significant undertaking, requiring you to achieve an A-Rank on every mission in every stage, collect all Chao Emblems, and complete all Boss Emblems. Prepare for a lengthy grind!
  • Metal Sonic: Achieve an A-Rank on every stage with Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. This means getting an A-Rank on all 10 Hero Story stages (including boss battles) and all 10 Dark Story stages (including boss battles).
  • Chaos 0: Achieve an A-Rank on every stage with Shadow, Dr. Eggman, and Rouge. Similar to Metal Sonic, this requires A-Ranks on all 10 Dark Story stages (including boss battles) and all 10 Hero Story stages (including boss battles).
  • Tikal the Echidna: Obtain all 180 Emblems. Just like unlocking Amy, this requires absolute mastery of the game.
  • Big the Cat: Obtain all 180 Emblems. Yes, Big is here too, and he's just as elusive!

Green Hill Zone

The classic Green Hill Zone from the original Sonic the Hedgehog makes a triumphant return as a bonus stage in Sonic Adventure 2. This iconic level offers a nostalgic challenge for seasoned fans.

  • How to Unlock: Collect all 180 Emblems. This is the ultimate unlockable, requiring you to complete every single objective and achieve the highest rank in every mission. Once unlocked, Green Hill Zone can be accessed from the Stage Select menu.
  • Strategy: Green Hill Zone is a pure speed stage. Focus on maintaining momentum, utilizing springs and ramps effectively, and avoiding obstacles. There are no Chaos Emeralds or hidden items; the goal is simply to reach the end as fast as possible.

Last Story

The true conclusion to Sonic Adventure 2's narrative, the Last Story, brings together both the Hero and Dark storylines for an epic final confrontation.

  • How to Unlock: Complete both the Hero Story and the Dark Story. This means successfully finishing every stage and boss battle in both campaigns. Once both stories are cleared, the "Last Story" option will appear on the main menu.
  • Key Stages: The Last Story features two unique stages:
    • Final Rush: A high-speed grind rail stage for Sonic. Master the rail switching and homing attacks to navigate this chaotic environment.

  • Chao Karate: Raise a Chao to at least Class C in all its stats (Swim, Fly, Run, Power, Stamina). Once a Chao reaches these stat requirements, the Chao Karate option will become available in the Chao Stadium.
  • Chao Race: Raise a Chao to at least Class C in one of its stats (Swim, Fly, Run, Power, Stamina). The specific race types (e.g., Aquatic Race, Power Race) will unlock as your Chao's corresponding stats increase. The Beginner Race is typically available with minimal stat investment.
  • Emblem Rewards: Winning each level of Chao Karate and each type of Chao Race will award you with Emblems, crucial for unlocking other content.

Kart Race

A fun diversion, the Kart Race mode allows you to compete in go-kart races with various characters.
