Each character has two unique upgrades that permanently enhance their abilities. Finding these is crucial for unlocking new paths and making gameplay easier.
- Sonic:
- Light Speed Attack: Allows Sonic to charge up and attack a line of enemies or rings. Found in Mystic Ruins, near the entrance to Red Mountain.
- Ancient Light: Required to use the Light Speed Attack. Found in Station Square, in the sewers accessible from the hotel lobby.
- Tails:
- Rhythm Badge: Increases Tails' flight duration. Found in Mystic Ruins, near the waterfall leading to the Ice Cap entrance.
- Jet Anklet: Boosts Tails' running speed. Found in Station Square, in the Burger Shop.
- Knuckles:
- Shovel Claw: Enables Knuckles to dig into soft ground. Found in Mystic Ruins, near the entrance to the jungle area.
- Fighting Gloves: Increases Knuckles' punch attack power. Found on the Egg Carrier, in the prison cells.
- Amy:
- Warrior Feather: Increases Amy's Hammer Jump height. Found in Mystic Ruins, near the entrance to the jungle area.
- Long Hammer: Extends Amy's hammer attack range. Found in Station Square, in the hotel lobby.
- Big:
- Power Rod: Increases Big's fishing strength. Found in Mystic Ruins, near the waterfall leading to the Ice Cap entrance.
- Life Ring: Increases the size of Big's fishing lure. Found in Station Square, in the sewers accessible from the hotel lobby.
- E-102 Gamma:
- Jet Booster: Increases Gamma's hover duration. Found on the Egg Carrier, in the prison cells.
- Laser Blaster: Extends Gamma's lock-on range. Found in Mystic Ruins, near the entrance to Red Mountain.
