Welcome to the Mission Mode guide for Sonic Adventure DX! This mode offers 60 unique challenges, separate from the main story, designed to test your skills and knowledge of the game's environments. Completing these missions is essential for unlocking all 12 DX mini-games, which are classic Game Gear titles. Each set of 10 missions you clear will unlock a new mini-game.

To begin a mission, you first need to find the "Mission Card" in one of the Adventure Fields. These cards are typically hidden or require a specific character ability to reach. Once found, interact with the card to activate the mission. Missions range from collecting a certain number of rings, defeating specific enemies, or reaching a goal within a time limit. Pay close attention to the mission description, as it often contains vital clues.

General Strategies for Mission Mode

  • Know Your Characters: Each character excels in different areas. Sonic is fast, Tails can fly, Knuckles can glide and climb, Amy has her hammer, Big can fish, and Gamma can shoot. Choose the character best suited for the mission at hand.
  • Explore Thoroughly: Mission Cards are often in obscure locations. Don't be afraid to backtrack or look in unexpected places within the Adventure Fields.
  • Practice Makes Perfect: Some missions require precise platforming or combat. If you fail, don't get discouraged! Learn from your mistakes and try again.
  • Utilize Upgrades: Character upgrades (like Sonic's Light Speed Dash or Knuckles' Shovel Claw) are often crucial for accessing Mission Cards or completing mission objectives efficiently.

Mission Card Locations & Walkthroughs (Examples)

Station Square Missions

Station Square is the first Adventure Field you'll encounter, and it holds many early Mission Cards. Remember to check every nook and cranny!

  • Mission 1: Find the Lost Chao!
    • Location: Near the entrance to Emerald Coast, on the small grassy area to the left of the path.
    • Character: Any.
    • Walkthrough: The Chao is hiding behind the large billboard advertising "Twinkle Park" near the hotel entrance. Simply walk behind the billboard to find it.
  • Mission 3: Collect 100 Rings!
    • Location: On the rooftop of the Burger Shop, accessible via a spring behind the building.
    • Character: Sonic (recommended for speed).
    • Walkthrough: This mission is straightforward. Run through Station Square, hitting springs and defeating enemies to quickly gather 100 rings. The path to the Casino Area and Twinkle Park has many rings.
  • Mission 7: Destroy the Robot!
    • Location: In the alleyway behind the Burger Shop, near the entrance to the sewers.
    • Character: Any combat-capable character (Sonic, Amy, Gamma).
    • Walkthrough: A specific robot (often a standard E-Series Badnik) will spawn in a designated area of Station Square. Locate and destroy it. The mission description will usually hint at its general location.

Mystic Ruins Missions

The Mystic Ruins offer a more expansive and complex environment for missions. You'll often need specific character abilities to reach these cards.

  • Mission 12: Reach the Top of the Waterfall!
    • Location: Near the train station, on a small ledge overlooking the waterfall.
    • Character: Tails (for flight) or Knuckles (for climbing).
    • Walkthrough: If playing as Tails, simply fly up the waterfall to the very top. As Knuckles, you can climb the rocky surfaces adjacent to the waterfall. The goal is the highest point you can stand on.
  • Mission 15: Find the Hidden Item!
    • Location: Inside the cave leading to the Red Mountain entrance, on a high ledge.
    • Character: Knuckles (for gliding/climbing).
    • Walkthrough: The item is often a small ring or a capsule. Use Knuckles' glide from the higher platforms in the cave to reach the hidden ledge.

Egg Carrier Missions

Missions on the Egg Carrier are often time-sensitive or involve navigating its intricate layout.

  • Mission 22: Defeat All Enemies on Deck!
    • Location: On the main deck of the Egg Carrier, near the bridge.
    • Character: Any combat-focused character.
    • Walkthrough: Several waves of enemies will appear across the main deck. Systematically defeat them all. Utilize homing attacks or ranged attacks to clear them efficiently.
