Act 1 introduces the Pink Spikes. When activated, Sonic becomes a spiked ball that can stick to and roll along walls and ceilings. This allows access to inverted paths and hidden areas. To find Red Star Rings, you'll often need to use the Spikes to navigate upside-down sections or reach platforms on ceilings. One Red Star Ring might be on a ceiling path above the main route. Another could be in a hidden alcove only reachable by rolling along a wall. Be careful of enemies that can knock you off walls. You can also use the Spikes to perform a powerful ground pound by dropping from a ceiling.
