Phase 1: Ground Attack

  • Attack Pattern: The Rotatron will spin its arms horizontally, attempting to hit Sonic as he approaches. It will also occasionally stop and launch small projectiles.
  • Strategy: Wait for the Rotatron to stop spinning its arms. When it pauses, its core will be exposed. Use a Homing Attack to hit the core. After hitting it, quickly move away to avoid its retaliatory spin. Alternatively, if you have a Boost, you can boost through its spinning arms to hit the core, but this is riskier. Dodge the projectiles by quick-stepping or jumping.

Phase 2: Elevated Attack

  • Attack Pattern: After a few hits, the Rotatron will elevate itself, making its core harder to reach. It will continue to spin its arms, but now at a higher level, and launch more projectiles.
  • Strategy: Look for springs that appear on the arena. Use these springs to launch Sonic into the air, allowing you to perform a Homing Attack on the elevated core. Timing is crucial here to avoid its spinning arms. Continue to dodge projectiles. Repeat this process until the Rotatron is defeated.

Weakness: Its exposed core. Reward: Progress to Sweet Mountain.
