Types of Wisps:

  • White Wisp: These are the most common Wisps. Collecting them fills your Boost Gauge, allowing Sonic to unleash his signature Boost ability. They are found everywhere and are crucial for maintaining speed.
  • Cyan Wisp (Laser): Transforms Sonic into a laser beam, allowing him to ricochet off reflective surfaces and travel at light speed through designated paths. Useful for reaching distant platforms and solving light-based puzzles.
  • Yellow Wisp (Drill): Turns Sonic into a drill, enabling him to burrow through soft ground and water. This is essential for finding hidden paths, collectibles, and bypassing obstacles.
  • Orange Wisp (Rocket): Launches Sonic high into the air, allowing him to reach extreme heights and access otherwise inaccessible areas. Perfect for vertical exploration.
  • Pink Wisp (Spikes): Grants Sonic the ability to stick to walls and ceilings, moving along them like a spiked ball. Also allows for a powerful spin dash that can destroy certain obstacles.
  • Green Wisp (Hover): Allows Sonic to hover in the air and follow trails of rings. This is excellent for precise platforming, crossing large gaps, and collecting hard-to-reach rings.
  • Blue Wisp (Cube): Transforms Sonic into a blue cube, allowing him to smash through certain blocks and switch the state of blue/orange blocks. Crucial for environmental puzzles.
  • Purple Wisp (Frenzy): Turns Sonic into a monstrous, insatiable purple beast that grows larger as it consumes objects and enemies. Useful for clearing large areas and revealing hidden paths.
  • Red Wisp (Burst): Exclusive to the Ultimate version, this Wisp allows Sonic to perform a powerful mid-air explosion, damaging nearby enemies and giving him an extra jump.

Experiment with each Wispon to understand its full potential. Many stages require specific Wisps to uncover all Red Star Rings or alternative routes.
