Wisps are the colorful alien creatures central to Sonic Colors, granting Sonic temporary, powerful abilities known as Wispons. Each Wisp type provides a unique power that is essential for progression, combat, and uncovering secrets. Learning when and how to use each Wispon is paramount to mastering the game.
Types of Wisps:
- White Wisp: These are the most common Wisps. Collecting them fills your Boost Gauge, allowing Sonic to unleash his signature Boost ability. They are found everywhere and are crucial for maintaining speed.
- Cyan Wisp (Laser): Transforms Sonic into a laser beam, allowing him to ricochet off reflective surfaces and travel at light speed through designated paths. Useful for reaching distant platforms and solving light-based puzzles.
- Yellow Wisp (Drill): Turns Sonic into a drill, enabling him to burrow through soft ground and water. This is essential for finding hidden paths, collectibles, and bypassing obstacles.
- Orange Wisp (Rocket): Launches Sonic high into the air, allowing him to reach extreme heights and access otherwise inaccessible areas. Perfect for vertical exploration.
- Pink Wisp (Spikes): Grants Sonic the ability to stick to walls and ceilings, moving along them like a spiked ball. Also allows for a powerful spin dash that can destroy certain obstacles.
