One of the most exciting features in Sonic Forces is the ability to create your very own custom hero, known as the Avatar. This character will play a pivotal role in the story, fighting alongside Sonic and the Resistance. The character creation system allows for extensive customization, from choosing your species to equipping various Wispons and cosmetic items. Your chosen species grants a unique ability, so consider your playstyle when making this important decision.

Steps for Creating Your Avatar:

  1. Choose a Species: Select from seven distinct animal species, each with a unique 'racial' ability.
    • Wolf: Automatically draws in rings when near them.
    • Rabbit: Extends invincibility time after taking damage.
    • Cat: Keeps one ring after taking damage (even if you have zero).
    • Dog: Restarts with five rings after being defeated.
    • Bear: Performs a double jump that knocks out nearby enemies.
    • Bird: Performs a double jump with a higher jump height.
    • Hedgehog: Collects rings when taking damage.
  2. Customize Appearance: Adjust fur color, eye shape, and various other aesthetic features. Don't worry too much about this initially, as you'll unlock many more customization options throughout the game.
  3. Select a Wispon: Choose your starting Wispon. This is your primary weapon and special ability. You'll unlock more powerful Wispons later.
  4. Equip Clothing: Your initial clothing options are limited, but you'll earn a vast array of outfits, hats, gloves, and shoes as rewards for completing stages and missions.

Experiment with different species and Wispons to find a combination that suits your preferred combat and traversal style. The customization options are purely cosmetic for clothing, but Wispons and species abilities directly impact gameplay.
