Extra Missions are optional challenges tied to specific stages that become available as you progress through the Story Mode. Each stage typically has one or more Extra Missions associated with it, offering unique objectives beyond simply reaching the goal. Completing these missions is an excellent way to earn new clothing items and accessories for your Avatar, expanding your customization options significantly. They also encourage you to revisit stages and explore different playstyles.
Types of Extra Missions:
- Ring Collection: Collect a specific number of rings within the stage. This often requires exploring alternate paths and being thorough.
- Time Attack: Complete the stage within a set time limit. This encourages speedrunning and optimizing your route.
- Enemy Defeat: Defeat a certain number of enemies or all enemies in the stage. This focuses on combat efficiency.
- No Damage: Complete the stage without taking any damage. This is a true test of skill and precision.
- Specific Wispon Use: Complete the stage using a particular Wispon, often one that might not be your preferred choice, forcing you to adapt.
- Specific Character: Sometimes, an Extra Mission might require you to complete a stage with a character other than the one originally assigned (e.g., complete an Avatar stage as Modern Sonic).
To access Extra Missions, simply select a completed stage from the world map, and if an Extra Mission is available, it will be listed as an option. The rewards are usually cosmetic items, but some might offer bonus rings. Tackling these missions not only provides new gear but also helps you refine your skills and discover hidden aspects of each level. They are a great way to extend your playtime and get the most out of Sonic Forces.
