Mecha Sonic is a robotic doppelganger that mimics many of Sonic's moves, including the Spin Dash and Insta-Shield. The arena is a series of crumbling platforms.
- Phase 1: Mecha Sonic will perform Spin Dashes, jumps, and Insta-Shields.
- Sonic Strategy: Wait for Mecha Sonic to finish an attack or be in a vulnerable state (e.g., after a Spin Dash, before he jumps). Perform a Spin Attack on him. Be careful, as he can counter-attack quickly. Use your own Insta-Shield defensively.
- Knuckles Strategy: Knuckles can use his glide to position himself above Mecha Sonic for a powerful punch. His glide also helps him avoid Mecha Sonic's charges and reach him quickly when he's vulnerable.
- Weakness: Mecha Sonic's body, when vulnerable.
- Reward: Clear the zone, proceed to Death Egg Zone.
