After collecting all 7 Chaos Emeralds as Sonic, you unlock the ability to transform into Super Sonic. With 50 rings, jump and press the jump button again in mid-air to transform. Super Sonic is invincible to most attacks (excluding crushing, drowning, or falling into bottomless pits), moves significantly faster, and jumps higher. However, Super Sonic constantly drains rings, and if your ring count drops to zero, you revert to regular Sonic. Utilize Super Sonic for challenging platforming sections, difficult boss battles, or simply to speedrun through zones. The increased speed and invincibility make many sections trivial, but managing your ring count is crucial.
