Chaos Emeralds & Sol Emeralds Guide
Sonic Rush features two sets of powerful gems: the Chaos Emeralds, sought by Sonic, and the Sol Emeralds, crucial for Blaze. Collecting these is essential for unlocking Super Sonic and achieving the true ending of the game. While they aren't collected in the same way as traditional collectibles like rings or item monitors, their acquisition is tied to story progression and specific gameplay achievements.
Chaos Emeralds: These seven legendary gems are scattered throughout the game's story. Sonic will acquire them as he progresses through the different zones and confronts Dr. Eggman and his schemes. You don't actively "find" them in levels; rather, they are awarded to you upon completing certain story objectives, often after defeating a boss or completing a particularly challenging section of a zone. The number of Chaos Emeralds you possess directly impacts your ability to transform into Super Sonic. Once all seven are collected, you will unlock the ability to transform during gameplay, provided you have enough rings.
Sol Emeralds: Blaze the Cat's primary objective is to gather the seven Sol Emeralds. These are also integral to the game's narrative and are collected through similar story-driven means as the Chaos Emeralds. Blaze will obtain them as she battles Eggman Nega and attempts to protect her own dimension. Like the Chaos Emeralds, the Sol Emeralds empower Blaze, allowing her to unleash her fiery abilities and eventually transform into Burning Blaze. The collection of both sets of emeralds is a key narrative driver and unlocks the game's ultimate challenges.
Unlocking Super Sonic: To transform into Super Sonic, you must first have collected all seven Chaos Emeralds. Once you have them, you can initiate the transformation by pressing the Boost button (typically the X button) when you have at least 50 rings. Super Sonic boasts increased speed, invincibility, and the ability to fly, making him invaluable for achieving the highest scores and tackling the game's most difficult challenges. The transformation consumes rings over time, so maintaining a high ring count is crucial for sustained use.
Unlocking Burning Blaze: Similarly, Blaze can transform into Burning Blaze once she has collected all seven Sol Emeralds. This transformation is often triggered by specific story events or can be activated manually under certain conditions, usually requiring a full Boost Gauge and a sufficient number of rings. Burning Blaze gains enhanced speed and powerful fire attacks, making her a formidable force against any enemy.
