To collect the Chaos Emeralds as Sonic, you'll need to enter Special Stages. These are accessed by finding a large, glowing ring hidden within certain acts. Once you jump into one, you'll be transported to a 3D half-pipe environment. The goal of the Special Stage is to collect a set number of rings before reaching the end of the stage. You'll be constantly moving forward, and you can move left and right to collect rings and avoid obstacles. The Boost Gauge is crucial here; using it will significantly increase your speed, allowing you to cover more ground and collect rings faster. However, boosting also consumes rings, so use it strategically.
There are also enemies and obstacles within the Special Stages that will cause you to lose rings if you collide with them. Prioritize avoiding these while still collecting rings. The number of rings required increases with each subsequent Special Stage. If you fail to collect enough rings, you'll be ejected from the stage without the Emerald. You can re-enter the same Special Stage from the same act if you find the ring again. Mastering the Boost and precise movement is key to collecting all seven Chaos Emeralds.
